I grew up in Augusta, GA and am the oldest child out of 4. Both of my grandmother’s (one was a professional caterer) did a lot of cooking and baking when I was growing up. I used to sit in the kitchen helping and testing things out. Before my grandmother retired, she taught me how to bake all of her famous cakes and pies. I have even taken some of her recipes and put my own stamp on them. My mother said I became interested in learning to cook at the age of 5. I have a Business management degree from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC. While in college, my friends would buy groceries and I would cook meals for them.  I worked for a caterer and event specialist from high school through college where I found my love for creating decor for special events and sneaking into the kitchen to help prep when I could. The owner of that company, Poppy Seeds was my mentor on all things culinary until she passed in November 2013. I got an Event management certificate from George Washington University in Washington, DC while working for a wedding planning and event decor company. I did meeting and event planning for a non-profit association in DC until I moved to Atlanta in 2006 where I was the Operations Manager for a catering company and started a small company (Beau Monde) and did wedding planning and floral decor on some weekends.

In 2010, I had an epiphany. I literally woke up and said that I was going to culinary school at the Art Institute of Atlanta, where I almost went right after high school. While there, I excelled as I was on the Dean’s list every quarter. I enjoyed all of my classes as I often networked with my instructors, getting a glimpse of life as a chef from their perspective.

Currently, I teach kid’s cooking classes at my son’s (Khai, 9 yrs old) school and have taught classes at a local cooking school in Atlanta, where I enjoy sharing with people my different techniques and recipes.

I have run restaurants and kitchens in Atlanta for several years. I love to  share my passion for the culinary arts as I entertain and cook for friends. I love selecting fresh and local ingredients to create dishes that will excite your taste buds. I have over 20 years of experience in the culinary and hospitality industries
